There is a misconception that iPhones can only be connected to a Mac and you cannot sync data from an iPhone to another PC. Yet, in fact, you can connect an Apple device to non-Apple devices. Thanks to modern technology, there are different ways to transfer data from an iPhone to a non-Apple laptop/PC or vice versa. So, if you want to connect your iPhone to PC to transfer files, to create backup or to import images, look no further.
How to Connect iPhone to PC?
Today, we will discuss three different ways to connect an iPhone to PC. You can choose any one of these methods depending on the types of content you want to transfer or access.
So, let’s begin!
Method 1: Connect iPhone to PC Using a USB Cable
Like any other mobile phone, you can also connect an iPhone directly with a PC using a USB cable. This is one of the easiest ways to connect an iPhone to a computer. Yet, as convenient as it is, it limits the functionality. For example, you can only move images and videos with this method. If you want to transfer other files (like music) from iPhone to a computer, then this method will not work. Thus, it is the simplest but not the most optimal fix.

Follow these steps to connect iPhone to PC using a USB cable:
Step 1 – Connect iPhone to PC
Use a Lightning to USB cable to connect your iPhone with PC. If you are considering buying a USB cable, just choose one from Syncwire lightning cables. For under $10 you can get an MFi-certified charging cable that syncs data 20% faster than uncertified cables. Insert the USB end of the cable into the USB port on your CPU or Laptop. Insert the other end into the charging port of your iPhone.
Step 2 – Trust the Device
Once the iPhone is connected to the PC, a “Trust This Computer?” prompt will appear on your iPhone screen. Unlock your iPhone and tap on “Trust” to trust the device.
Step 3 – View Data
Another prompt will ask you what to do with the device. Tap "Open device to view files" and go to "Internal Storage". Here you will find different folders containing the data present in the internal storage of your iPhone. For example, the "DCIM" folder will contain all the images under subfolders like thumbnail, “100 Apple”, etc.
You can copy and paste files from the computer to move data between your iPhone and PC.
Method 2: Connect iPhone to PC Using iTunes
iTunes is Apple's recommended way to connect an iPhone to PC. It allows you to sync data, move files, and backup and restore data. iTunes allows you to sync videos, photos, videos, ringtones and a lot more.
